The Sounds Of Night, Book APP Blog Tour Promotion And Giveaway

DESCRIPTION:

The Sounds of Night is a book app that helps put a child's mind at ease when the lights go out at bedtime. This book addresses one of the primary feelings young children face; fear. The Sounds of Night reinforces the principle that God is the Creator of every creature. Since God makes all the animals that scurry and screech at night, children can lie down and sleep in peace.

FEATURES: The Sounds of Night has over 75 touch points/interactions. It has rich illustrations and 4 Bible verses on fear that kids can learn with their parents and share with their friends.
DEVELOPMENT: Jessica Kirkland is a member of Moms with Apps. She recently launched Christian Apps 4 Kids, which seeks to draw kids closer to Christ one app at a time. Her inaugural app is a result of the fear that was such a part of her life:
In every season of life, the Enemy would whisper the lie that I would “never make it” to the next. I believed it. Time and time again, I thought his words held power. As a young child, I never thought I would live to see my school years. Once I entered school, I never thought I would live to see the next day, next grade, or milestone in life. I listened to a very real enemy, even though I didn’t want to. Even though I came from a strong, Christian family, I felt powerless to stop the lies. Fear gripped me, stole from me, and taunted every careful step I took.
Jessica believes the only way to be free from fear, as an adult or child, is to replace fearful thoughts with God's Word. Her desire for each book project is that they not only build character, but help set kids free.
The book app was developed in partnership with ROAR.

Also coming soon:

The Lonely Stable is a book app that reminds children that it's never too late to live out God's plan for their lives. Told from the stable's perspective, this intriguing Christmas book tells the story of Jesus' birth. From time to time, we all wonder about our purpose in life. The Lonely Stable wondered why he was still standing, for he was weathered and old. As time passed, he began to question his purpose. This remarkable tale is a lesson that both parents and children can hold on to when they ask questions like, "Why am I here?" or "Does God care about my life?" This book shows us that God has made each of us for a special purpose. The Lonely Stable is aimed at kids ages 2-10 years old.

For One Moment Today Remember What Happened 70 Years Ago...

At 7:55AM on 7 Decembre 1941 Japanese Naval Aircraft bombed the US Fleet anchored in Pear Harbour, Hawaii.

(British Pathé archives)

All of the eight US battleships stationed at Pearl Harbour were damaged, and more than 3,500 Americans at the base were killed or wounded, including 1,177 crew of the battleship USS Arizona.

On that fateful day America declared war...A day never to be forgotten...
War in Europe started on 1 Septembre 1939...

(British Pathé archives)

For one moment today let's remember what happened 70 years ago and honour the men and women who are still fighting for Justice and Freedom.

In Washington today the US President vowed: "We resolve to always take care of our troops, veterans and military families as well as they've taken care of us."

Remembering and praying...

Big Book Of History, Book review

Book description:

Unfold 6000 years of history in a stunning chart that stretches 15 feet.
A Big look at history for young learners! Ages 7 to 12
The Big Book of History is the perfect way to engage your child in an adventurous trip through time - from the first Day of Creation to present day! Discover:
  • The birth dates of conquerors, kings, inventors, scientists, and famous men of God
  • Wars and wonders of the ancient and modern worlds
  • The 969-year-old man who shared the true history of the world with Noah
  • The first ancient inventions and discoveries of chocolate, yo-yos, batteries, movies, and more!
Did you know... Thomas Edison is known for inventing a working light bulb, but do you know he also invented the first talking dolls and helped to create an early and commercially-successful form of movies? He also started the first movie studio, and probably the most unique. It was built so that the whole building could be turned in a circle during the day to get the most sunlight!
Designed to share the most details in a colorful collection of important facts and interesting photos, it can be an effective educational resource or enjoyed just for fun!

My review:

'The Big Book of History' is an interesting learning concept for homeschoolers and young history students in the form of a fantastic 15 foot fold out time line chart. It provides 7 to 12 years old with a great instructional tool and a quick reference guide.
With this, the student is given the opportunity to view historical events from Creation to present day, 6000 years of History in fact!
World events, biblical/Christianity, civilizations, empires, inventions and technology are each identified with colours.
A student is therefore able to look up dates to identify historical events, birth dates of kings, inventors, scientists and men of God in one specific year. Mum and Dad, you might just learn a thing or two as well!

This is not intended to replace complete history books but with the study guide available for download online at no additional charge, you will discover details and activities to complete your educational program for a full school term.

Entertaining whilst educational, this fold up time chart is appealing to children and will prove a great tool for any teacher.

5 stars!

Sinterklaas...

This being the 6th of Decembre today we celebrate Sinterklaas (St Nicholas)!
Good little children knows Sinterklaas will visit their home and leave a present or two, a few oranges and speculoos, maybe some marzipan...So last night in many homes clogs were set out with a bit of hay for Sinterklaas' horse...

Oh the memories...never mind that I am no longer a child...

I remember the songs and the outings to the department stores where you visited Sinterklaas and whispered in his ear all that you wished for...and yes, you guessed it, I so dreaded Zwarte Piet...

Sinterklaas Kapoentje,

leg wat in mijn schoentje.
Een appeltje of een citroentje.
Een nootje om te kraken,
dat zal wel beter smaken.
Dankje Sinterklaasje!
Dankje Sinterklaasje!

and in English...

Saint Nicolas Little Rascal,

Put something in my little shoe,
A little apple or a little lemon,
A little nut to crack,
That will taste much better
Thank you little Saint Nicolas!
Thank you little Saint Nicolas!
 Blessings to all,

Second Sunday Of The Advent...

Justice shall flourish in His time,
and fullness of peace for ever.
Prepare the way of the Lord,
     make straight His paths.
Jerusalem, take off your robe of mourning and misery;
The desert and the parched land will exult;
the steppe will rejoice and bloom.
They will bloom with abundant flowers,
Our God will come to save us!

Reaper Two-Six, Year 5: The Rise of Global Insurgency, Book Review

Book description:

The world is suffering from the effects of out-of-control terrorism. Governments are spending huge amounts of precious capital for the safety and security of air and rail transportation as well as inspections at all sea ports. The global economic effect is crippling; countries struggle to manage commerce, international trade, business growth, job creation and tourism. The world’s economy is on the brink of collapse.

The Global Defense Organization TM (GDO) has been created to be a cost effective multinational elite group that monitors, infiltrates and eliminates terrorist activities within all supporting countries. Known only as Reaper Two-Six TM, this secret 48 member squadron has quickly earned a reputation for precisely eliminating terrorist threats, in the air and on the ground.

Why did China and Columbia oppose the creation of the GDO? Are they connected to global terrorist cells? Are they secretly financing the sale of weapons? The Reaper’s greatest challenge is now upon them; infiltrate China and Columbia to discover their real intentions.

Through a series of electrifying and heart-stopping missions, see how the Reapers use their skills and advanced technology to put fear back where it belongs, in the minds of the terrorists, not in the minds of its citizens.

My review:

The rise of Global Insurgency is today's actuality! Terrorism has changed our lives in many ways. The 11th Septembre 2001 was not the first time the U.S. recognized the threat of terrorism but for many it was the first time it touched their lives directly . For others, it is an everyday happening, something you live with in the back of your mind, never forgetting today might bring more victims.
Traveling takes much longer than it used to, nothing in our luggage is private anymore and rightly so if you consider the alternative! Sadly victories over terrorism seems few and far between...

Reaper Two- Six, Year 5: The Rise of Global Insurgency is the well written, fast paced fiction work of Robert A. Grand and a very hard book to put down.
Action packed with a plot certain to grab you, this is not a book just for the men in your life, there are also heroines right in the middle of it all!
The author chose to write in the present tense putting readers into the action as though you are right in the cockpit or on the ground with the group. Interesting!

We all know they are dedicated agencies working 24/7 behind the scenes, keeping track of those who would hurt and destroy nations across the globe! Reaper Two- Six is such a group, albeit fictional of course.
Robert A. Grand writes a compelling story with heroes and losses, men and women who fight a daily battle to remove the threat of domestic and global terrorism, a hopeful reminder that governments around the world can and will continue to work against the forces of evil.

Fast paced and guaranteed to hold your interest until the very last page, both ex-RAF fly boy and I decreed this is certainly a keeper and worth 5 stars!

On that note, we are looking forward to Year 6!

Note to readers: Reaper Two-Six, 26th Tactical Fighter Wing has an amazing website (see here) for more information! Worth a visit!
