The Ride Of Her Life by Lorna Seilstad, Book review

Published by REVELL on 1 May 2012
ISBN-13 978-0800734473
Synopsis:

The only man pragmatic Lilly Hart needs in her life is a six year old. Widowed two years ago, Lilly leaves the shelter of her intrusive in-laws' home to stand on her own and provide for her young son by working for the summer as a cook at Lake Manawa. However, her in-laws find that life utterly unsuitable for their grandson, and when a row ensues, a handsome stranger--who designs roller coasters, of all things--intercedes on her behalf. Still, Lilly is not about to get involved with any man, especially this cocky (though charismatic) gentleman. Little does she know she is about to begin the ride of her life.

Filled with delightful characters and the romance of summer,
The Ride of Her Life is another supremely entertaining story from the witty Lorna Seilstad. Readers will laugh out loud and sigh contentedly as they spend the summer of 1906 in Lake Manawa.

 (Lake Manawa Circa 1910)

My thoughts:

Set in the summer of 1906 at Lake Manawa 'The Ride of Her Life' is book # 3 in the 'Lake Manawa Summers' series written by Lorna Seilstad, a wonderful story about taking a chance no matter the odds!

Widow Lilly Hart and her six year old son will rivet readers with their antics as they strive to make a living for themselves at the lakeshore's diner.
Lilly's hard work and sensible approach to life enables her to hope for a solid roof over her head which does not include interfering in laws whilst Levi discovers yet another critter to entertain himself with. His new friend fills a big void in his life and he finds in Nick a father figure.
Nick, the Roller coaster designer is the sort of man Lilly fears will break their heart yet if she listens to God, he is a man she can trust!

'The Ride of her life' is simply to be experienced: Lorna Seilstad knows how to reach her audience!
You can almost hear the gentle waves lapping at the shore, the sounds of the Luna park in the background and soft music in the background...

Fresh, fun and exhilarating, it is just the ticket for a lovely afternoon, sitting on the porch whilst sipping a glass of lemonade! Warning: it will have your heart flutter more than once!

By the time I finished the last page I felt as if I had just traveled back in time!
Drawing from her local research Lorna Seilstad introduces us to the world of Trolley parks and their place in this famous all American Summer pastime!

Vivacious and inspirational, Lorna Seilstad writes novels you will want to savour and very likely will love to give away to friends and family!

'Faith entrust oneself and one's children to God in the midst of danger'!
He is always with us no matter what!

'The Ride of Her Life' is worth 5 stars for pure enjoyment!

 About the Author:

Lorna Seilstad states:

'I met and married the love of my life, David. God had written our love story, and I knew from the moment we met
that he was the one. It was not love at first sight by any means, but I was so sure he
was "it" that I wrote that I'd met the man I would marry in my diary. We pledged our
hearts to one another two and half years later.

I taught high school English until my oldest child was born. After that I began my
career as a professional wiper. I wiped noses, counter tops,  tiny tushes, tears, and
scraped knees.'

She loves flower arranging, singing and chocolate! (the latter cinched it for me: life without chocolate...)
