Celebrations shadowed by Grief: A Moment Of Silence for 19 lives lost...

Whilst the United States of America are observing their Independence Day this 4th of July, celebrations are also shadowed by the grief experienced by families and friends, and colleagues of the nineteen members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots, a specialist team of wildfire fighters, who put their lives on the line and were lost in a tragic set of circumstances on Sunday, 30 June 2013.

Like their brothers in arms, these courageous firefighters are remembered today and always for their ultimate sacrifice.

As you sit down for a family gathering and say grace, or share some well earned relaxing time with friends and neighbours, please share a moment of silence...

When I am called to duty, God
whenever flames may rage,
Give me the strength to save some life
Whatever be its age.
 ....

And if according to Your will
I have to lose my life,
Please bless with Your protecting hand
My children and my wife.

Dedicated to M. D., Gunny, Richard, John, Limek, Tania, Aaron, Mike, Joshua, Phi and all the others Firefighters/Military!

For all that you do...God bless and keep safe!

  2. As a grandaughter, daughter, sibling and wife of militaries (serving 3 nations) and the mother of a (ret) Firefighter/EMT, I felt duty bound to remember their sacrifices Kayla, no thanks necessary!
Ol' Glory will remain at half mast for 19 days...Such a helpless thing to observe but prayers for their families to go on will continue!
    God bless,
