A Day In An Islander's Life...

Monday morning...

The island is waking up...

The neighbours are refreshing themselves...

The only way off island is by boat but rest assured, this mode of transportation is only occasional...

Summer blooms...

First ferry to arrive to the island...

Return to the mainland...

Not much traffic as you can see, our car + 1...(en route for supplies)

Goodbye Island for a little while (back on the 4 pm!)

Leaving with a wonderful quote about Life being rich...

"In ordinary life, we hardly realize that we receive a good deal more than we give, and that it is only with
gratitude that Life becomes rich."

~Dietrich Bonhoeffer~

  1. Noelle,

What beautiful photos of your island life! I can relate, of course, although we live further from the mainland than you, I believe, as it takes about 7 hours to reach Athens. How lovely it must be to be able to travel to and fro so easily, and relatively quickly, thus allowing you to enjoy the perks of both lifestyles. So enjoyed this post for its colourful images and wonderful words about your island life! Thanks for sharing and inspiring!

    1. A trip to the mainland lasts about 15 minutes more or less Poppy, however the ferry runs only a few times a day and stops running at 7pm. Call it curfew! Any late outings means an overnight stay.

  2. What an interesting post! And that Bonhoffer quotation is SO TRUE. I have been thinking a lot about that lately.

    1. A different life altogether Judy. Bear in mind if we forget anything, we are out of luck: no amenities for a start and no deliveries of any kind, not even USPS!
That quote has always meant a lot to me!
      All the best,

  3. What a wonderful place. I imagine it's very cold in winter. Is it not?

    God bless.

    1. Actually it is not cold at all over here Victor and any sign of snow merits a notice on the internet!
Still we are close enough to 2 chains of mountains covered with snow most of the year, a beautiful sight to be sure!
      God bless,
