Spring Promises...

Easter is already behind us but with its glorious promises and Spring here, we look forward to enjoy every day! For us on the coast, the weather is rather mild with showers never far... Still, we count our blessings!

The year's at the spring
And day's at the morn;
Morning's at seven;
The hillside's dew pearled;
The lark's on the wing;
The snail's on the thorn;
God's in His Heaven -
All's right with the world!

(Robert Browning)

When you think Spring, what comes to mind? For me, it is those wonderful  green hills,  lambs frolicking, birds singing, jonquils and primroses blooming, the smell of earth warming up with all its rich promises...

Not so long ago I encountered a wonderful artist on Blogland named Fiona. Fiona's home is in Yorkshire and her surroundings are obviously a constant source of inspiration!   I thought to share one of her latest creations as she kindly agreed to a commission!

My requests were for one little black sheep and a thatched roof cottage and here it is!
All the way from the British Isles, Yorkshire Dales in felted wool with tiny stitches, both machine and handmade as only Fiona can!

You can find more of this artist's unique creations at her blog 'MarmeladeRose' or on her Etsy shoppe (HERE).

Due to our mildew challenges here on the Pacific NW coast, I thought it best to tuck the wool tapestry in a shadow box and took another photo to showcase Fiona's work but when I checked it out this morning, I discovered an additional element...Do you see it too? Just an illusion of course, unexplained as yet (we were not sure what exactly reflected in the glass).

For those of you who might have a sweet tooth, this citrus cake was delicious (and since I cannot remember where I clipped the recipe, you only have to ask and I will email it!)

  1. Noelle,
    Your citrus cake looks delicous. When I think of spring, I think of Easter and also new beginnings. I will have to check out your friend's blog right now.

    Happy first week of April.

  2. How are you, lovely friend? It is good to take time to visit with you this evening.
    Easter is certainly behind us, but its promise always before us. I would have to take a little time to think of what I like most about spring because it has not always been my favorite season for some reason. I'm a huge fan of autumn; however, I am learning to love each season for its own beauty. I would have to say that besides the hope of new life that comes with spring, I love the flowers, especially yellow ones. :)
    Speaking of yellow, that cake looks DELICIOUS. I love anything citrus. Yes, I will email you for that recipe, thank you for offering.
    Fiona's art is GORGEOUS. I must stop by her page soon.
    Fun visiting tonight.
    MUAH!!

    1. Marcia, I too prefer Autumn, something in the air, promises of holidays coming up? Still, I enjoy Spring for all it tells us will soon to follow...I just don't like hot weather!
      I will gladly pass along the recipe (easy and even better the following day!)
      And yes, Fiona's art is stunning! I think the faeries must be helping...There is a touch of magic in her hands!

    1. We thought so too Marcia but unless we missed something there, it is not my shadow. Best we could think of was the bamboo fence but it is too far to reflect that way. A fluke, but interesting none the less!

    1. Merle, there is nothing nearby that looks like it so it remains a puzzle. It appears I now have a castle showing through the clouds...As Fiona well knows, I am very fond of sittle black sheeps and always loved thatched roofs! I am such a dreamer...
      Hugs to Angus,
